Grid trading: What It Means

Placing a series of orders at fixed price intervals, usually adding to a position as price moves against it.

A grid bot places buy or sell orders at set distances apart. When price moves against the first trade, the bot opens more trades at each level, so the average entry price improves and a small reversal closes the group in profit.

Grids work well in sideways markets and fail in strong trends. When price keeps moving one way, the bot keeps adding trades until the account runs out of margin. Many grid bots also increase the size of each new trade, which combines the risk of a grid with the risk of martingale.
